Today i found myself dreaming away (again) on the site of cabin porn. Some of the cabins reminded me of my swedish friend Katja's country house. I visited my swedish friends in februari and got to experience their beautifull house surrounded by the snow. It was super cozy. Cant wait to go back in the summer.

I actually saw the beginning of this clip at a friends but i didnt see the end back then. Boy did i miss out, dancing cats! How could you not show me that ending! Bjork. I've loved her since i was 8 (this seems to be 1994) and visited my uncle in Washington who gave me an (now old school) tape of her.

Yes there might actually be a theme, we seem to be posting quite  a lot of cat stuff. But hey cats are awesome, cute, fluffy and awesome. We might have to change the blogs name into Monokini Kitty. But then all the hard work of our friend Kevin making this beautifull Monokini Monkey drawing would have been for nothing. Back to the future - Irina Werning

we all know the 'back to the future' movies, but this is something entirely different. Photographer and Artist Irina Werning made a whole series of photographs with the same name, but on a completely different topic. the concept is easy enough. take some old childhood pictures and replicate then with the smae people many years later. an idea that might be old, but we think Werning was very succesfull. 

in her own words: 

I love old photos. I admit being a nosey photographer. As soon as I step into someone else’s house, I start sniffing for them. Most of us are fascinated by their retro look but to me, it’s imagining how people would feel and look like if they were to reenact them today… Two years ago, I decided to actually do this. So, with my camera, I started inviting people to go back to their future..

Wednesday 21 march the exhibition Stanley Kubrick Photographer starts atThe Royal Museum of Fine Arts Brussels. Stanley Kubrick is generally beter known for his movies such as 2001: A Space Odyssey and our favorites Barry Lyndon and A Clockwork Orange.

Kubrick was interested in all aspects of human experience. He explored the entire range of cinematographic possibilities to express how human violence can transform an individual to such an extent that he or she is reduced to a mask. Shortly after graduating from high school in 1945, Stanley Kubrick began working for the New York magazine Look, where he remained for the next five years as a staff photographer.

The sequential construction of his photojournalism – today in the collections of the Museum of the City of New York – already reflects a cinematographic viewpoint. His lens captures a portrait of America right after World War II – a central theme in Kubrick’s films. This idea of social portrayal is at the heart of our presentation of Kubrick and informed our organization of his documentary photographs. His themes include crime scenes, the life of a shoeshine man, a university theatre troupe, etc. Kubrick reveals himself to be a first-rate photographer. In his masterful approach, it is possible to detect references to other artists, such as Walker Evans and Diane Arbus.
